Restoring balance, vitality and wellbeing through the ancient wisdom of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Over 2,500 years of Chinese medical tradition, delivered in Watford by Colin Solomon — a qualified 5 Elements Acupuncturist with 17 years of clinical practice. Every treatment thoughtfully tailored to your constitution, your symptoms, and your wellness goals.
Five Elements Acupuncture is a classical form of Chinese medicine that views health through the lens of nature. According to this ancient framework, everything in the universe — including the human body — is shaped by five fundamental elements. When these elements flow in harmony, we experience vibrant health. When they fall out of balance, physical, emotional and spiritual symptoms arise.
Unlike purely symptomatic approaches, 5 Elements Acupuncture looks at the whole person — addressing the root cause rather than just the surface expression of illness. It's particularly powerful for those experiencing emotional, energetic or chronic concerns that haven't responded fully to other treatments.
Alongside the 5 Elements approach, Colin is fully trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncture — a broader and highly adaptable system drawing on meridian theory, zang-fu organ patterns, Qi and Blood dynamics, and the balance of Yin and Yang.
TCM Acupuncture is especially effective for specific physical conditions, musculoskeletal pain, digestive imbalances, hormonal concerns and fertility support. Many clients benefit from a blended approach — combining the emotional depth of 5 Elements with the clinical precision of TCM. During your consultation, we'll identify the most appropriate treatment style for your unique needs.
Depending on your condition and preferences, your session may incorporate these traditional techniques — each with thousands of years of clinical use behind them.
A warming therapy using dried mugwort (moxa) to gently stimulate acupuncture points. Moxibustion invigorates Qi and Blood circulation, dispels cold, and is particularly supportive for fertility, menstrual health, digestive weakness and chronic pain.
Glass cups are warmed and applied to the skin to create gentle suction. Fire cupping releases deep muscular tension, improves lymphatic flow, clears stagnation and is wonderful for back pain, shoulder tightness, respiratory concerns and post-exercise recovery.
A modern adaptation where a mild electrical current is applied to acupuncture needles. Highly effective for stubborn pain, nerve conditions, musculoskeletal injuries, tennis and golf elbow, and where a stronger therapeutic response is needed.
Acupuncture works across a broad spectrum of conditions — from specific acute concerns to deep chronic imbalances. Whether you're seeking support for a named condition or simply want to feel more balanced and vital, acupuncture has something genuinely meaningful to offer.
Most clients are surprised by how relaxing an acupuncture session is. Many drift off to sleep on the table. Here's what to expect from your treatment at Create Your Wellness.
We discuss your health history, current concerns and wellness goals — not just symptoms, but your lifestyle, emotions and constitution.

Acupuncture needles are extremely fine — much thinner than the needles used for injections. Most people feel little more than a slight tingle, warmth or dull sensation, which usually fades within seconds. Many clients find treatments so relaxing that they drift off to sleep.
5 Elements Acupuncture focuses on identifying your constitutional element (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal or Water) and treating the root cause of imbalance — particularly powerful for emotional and chronic concerns. Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture works more directly with meridians, organ patterns and Qi flow, and is highly effective for specific physical and hormonal conditions. At Create Your Wellness, Colin is trained in both and often blends the two approaches.
It depends on your concern. Acute issues such as a tension headache or muscle strain may resolve in 2–4 sessions. Chronic or complex conditions — including fertility, hormonal rebalancing or autoimmune support — typically benefit from a longer course of weekly treatments followed by maintenance sessions. We'll discuss a personalised plan at your first consultation.
Many clients use acupuncture both as a natural fertility support and alongside assisted reproductive treatments such as IVF and IUI. It can help regulate cycles, improve circulation to the reproductive organs, support egg quality and reduce the stress that often accompanies the fertility journey. Moxibustion is frequently used alongside acupuncture for fertility support.
Absolutely. Acupuncture is a beautifully gentle option for managing menopause symptoms including hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, sleep disruption, fatigue and brain fog — without interfering with your natural hormonal rhythm. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, menopause is understood as a natural transformation in Yin and Yang, and treatment is tailored to nourish what's depleted and calm what's overactive.
Yes — acupuncture offers a unique form of support for mental wellbeing because it works on both the body and mind simultaneously. It calms the sympathetic nervous system and helps regulate stress hormones. Many clients report feeling calmer, more grounded and less stuck in looping thoughts after sessions. It works wonderfully alongside therapy or other forms of mental health care.
Moxibustion is the gentle warming of acupuncture points using dried mugwort (moxa). It's particularly supportive for fertility, menstrual concerns, digestive weakness, chronic pain and any pattern of coldness or stagnation in the body. The heat penetrates deeply and many clients find it deeply comforting.
Yes — fire cupping is a safe, traditional technique when performed by a trained practitioner. The flame is used briefly only to warm the cup before it's placed on the skin, never near you. It can leave temporary circular marks (a sign of stagnation being released) which typically fade within a few days.
Before your session, eat a light meal and avoid alcohol or excessive caffeine. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Afterwards, drink plenty of water, avoid intense exercise for the rest of the day, and give yourself space to rest and integrate the treatment. The effects of acupuncture can continue unfolding for 24–48 hours after a session.
Yes — acupuncture works well alongside conventional medical care and most medications. Always let Colin know what medications you're taking at your consultation so treatment can be tailored appropriately.
